  60. TRX is a portfolio management and investment tracking program designed
  61. for small investors.  It allows you to manage multiple investment and
  62. cash accounts and many different assets.  Some of the features of this
  63. program are:
  64. * Flexibility to make tax basis adjustment for gifts, spinoffs, etc.
  65. * All popular tax basis methods are supported.
  66. * Comprehensive performance summaries, including after-tax return.

  78. How to Start the Program
  79. In Windows 3.1 or 3.11, double click the TRX icon.  In Windows 95 or
  80. NT, click the TRX icon in the Task Manager.  The DOS version is started
  81. by typing trx in the directory in which the program was installed.
  82.  
  83. Using the Sample Data
  84. The program comes with an extensive set of sample data, including over
  85. 100 different assets and several accounts.  You can try the program
  86. using the sample data.  When you want to add your own data, delete the
  87. sample data.  If you think you may want to look at the sample data again,
  88. save it to a floppy disk using the backup utility in the program.  When
  89. you delete the sample data, delete the accounts first, because the
  90. program will not permit you to delete any assets owned by an account.
  91.  
  92. Uninstalling the program
  93. The Windows installation utility also provides an uninstall program.
  94. Just run it to delete the program from your computer.  This uninstall
  95. program will also remove all data in the directory where you have
  96. installed TRX, so if you wish to preserve the data, use the backup
  97. utility, or export the data to another directory before running the
  98. uninstall program.  The DOS version has no uninstall utility.  You
  99. need to manually delete the files in the install directory.

  341. To install TRX under Windows (3.x, 95 or NT) run the setup.exe program
  342. after unzipping the zip archive.  Setup will create a directory for
  343. the program and copy the program and sample data file to that directory.
  344. It will also install the uninstall utility and a readme file.  You can
  345. also install the DOS real mode version by running the install.exe
  346. program under DOS.  This program will give you a choice of installing
  347. either the DOS real mode version or the DOS protected mode version of
  348. the program.  If you have a 386 or better machine, install the protected
  349. mode version, since it offers vastly greater memory.
